Today we went on a Field Trip to a Wildlife Park. Living in Maine certainly has some perks when it comes to the types of wildlife you can see. This Wildlife Park rescues animals and helps them recover, and if they can no longer live in the wild… they house them.
The class we took was about Bald Eagles. We learned some really cool stuff about them. The kids were super excited when they brought a live bald eagle out to see us. We couldn’t get right up to it, but we got pretty close. This particular Eagle was injured as a small chick. He had to have one of his wings amputated.
My kids loved seeing all the animals. There are such a wide variety that live here. From Turtles to Bears oh my!!
It was amazing some of the facts we learned about some of the animals, that I never would have guessed. As we went through the park, my kids did a scavengers hunt, and I also had them do some science observations.
We had a limited amount of time to look around, due to the fact we had Scouts and Baseball practice. We did make it around to every animal, but we would love to go back and see them again, and learn a bit more.
It was a great day!
We also had Girl Scouts today, and Baseball Practice.
